Budget Power Supplies

I realize that this is basically repeating Jon’s recent post, but I found it too hilarious and pertinent not to post!

Now, I realize that this video is total Corsair marketing. But! The reality still exists that, while the example “Brand X” PSU’s they use are an extreme case, budget PSU’s have too high a mortality rate to be considered a wise purchase for you custom PC.

This is something we’ve long preached here at Puget…and, I simply thought the video was hilarious!!! Enjoy:

    Actually I have a Seasonic power supply that exploded dramatically. Smoke and the smell of burnt electronics filled the room when running that 700w supply at 50% capacity. Worse yet Seasonic only partially replaced my failed supply rendering it useless.

    I’m VERY glad you’re moving to use Corsair!

    I also had an issue with OCZ Gamestream 550 watt PSU about 2 years ago and they promptly sent me the best of their line.

    I had a couple of those craptastic Deer powersupplies from customers blow and go on fire. Not surprising.
