    Default New Heat pipe

Is there a way to order a heat pipe minus the metal fins? I have an idea for significantly increasing the heat dissipation while decreasing the over all size. Granted it will cost lots more, but I think it might be worth the extra cost.

How would one measure the cost/increase as a ratio? The thermal conductivity is
    232 BTU/(h.ft 2 °F/ft) (a LOT!)

The cost is $108.50. (Also a LOT!)

Average heat pipe thermal conductivity is 222 BTU/(h.ft 2 °F/ft) along the length of the pipe. (This is also a LOT!)

Average cost is $60.00 for a decent one.

The reason that I think it would be better is because Heat transfer rate of a heat pipe from tube to still air by natural convection is only 1.44 BTU/hr/ft2/ºF. (area rather than volume) and copper fins only increase this by 16 BTU/hr/ft/ºF per fin. Where my device, while much more expensive, increases this to 19.33333332 BTU/hr/ft/ºF without fins. Therefore the entire length of tube has increased heat transfer rate rather than just where the fins connect with the tube making the total heat transfer approximately 3.4 BTU/hr/ft/ºF better than the heat sink I analyzed. (thermaltake sonic tower)

Granted this is just math so far. I just want to know if someone is willing to sell an unfinished heat pipe. If someone had a heat pipe lying around that they were willing to give up for science that would be awesome.

    Thanks for any info,

    Overlord

Also, would it be ethical or lucrative- preferably both- to upgrade people's heat sinks for a service fee? Asking for donations that go to both charity, and funding of inventions with something like a 25% of total donations sent to charity might help me to do my part in the world.

(I am disabled because of Autism.)

Maybe someone else should handle business stuff, but the question is who that should be.

    Thanks for any insight.

Someday I will cool a computer using diamonds.
