what fan activity should I expect to see under CPUID?

when monitoring it with CPUID 1.180 I only see two lines for fan activity; one for the CPU fan and one for the video card fan.

In contrast, from a review of the SPCR Serenity:

there are entries for sysfanin, cpufan, auxfanin0/1/2 (dups?)

Should I expect to see (running at idle) entries for sysfanin and/or auxfan?

Hmm, that is an interesting screenshot from AnandTech. I would expect to see info on the CPU fan, and video card if using an actively-cooled model, but the rest of the fans we install are not wired to the motherboard... so it should have no way to 'see' them and what speed they are running at. The fact that all of the extra fan listings on that screenshot show the exact same RPM also makes me wonder - and I really think that must have just been a bug with the software.

What we do, so you are aware, is wire the chassis fans directly to the power supply. That way we can control how fast they are running via voltage... and I believe we put the fans in Serenity style systems at either 5 or 7 volts (instead of the normal 12V). That keeps them good and quiet, but there is no motherboard connection in there so it has no way to monitor speeds. There is really nothing to monitor for, though, besides possibly a fan failure.

In short, your lack of fan speed entries is exactly what I would expect - the article is what is odd. It may have been a software bug on their end, or maybe just a difference in how the BIOS on the different boards works... but nothing you need to worry about
