Just thought I'd check with an update regarding the upgrades I've made to my build 53553 purchased December 2008. At this point, the case, power supply, X-Fi Titanium Fatality Champion sound card and Pioneer DVR-216D DVD+-R drive are the only original parts left from the original build. I sold or repurposed the other parts after the parts warranty expired.
The upgrades are:
Asus P9X79 X79 Deluxe motherboard
Intel Core i7 3930K processor
Coolmaster Hyper212 EVO heatsink & fan
MSI ATI HD 6850 "Frozer" edition graphics card (the warranty replacement ATI HD 5830 card is now in my wife's PC - build 19676, which most of the other original componets from 2005 and is still going strong)
Intel 510 SSD 240 GB (sold my gen 1 X-25Ms and repurposed the Adaptec RAID card to manage a 2X2TB RAID1 array for my Windows Home Sever 2011 box)
Ceton InfiniTV PCI-E digital cable tuner
Pioneer BDR-205 Blu Ray burner
Rosewill internal USB 3.0 card reader
Corsair Vengence K90 (mostly) mechanical keyboard
Windows 7 Ultimate
Next upgrades on my wish list:
ATI HD 7800 series display adapter
Intel 520 SSD - move my 510 to wife's PC
BDXL compatible BD burner
Add Acer 23" multi-touch monitor to my HP w2408h monitor for a dual-monitor Windows 8 setup (this is probably my next upgrade)....
