This is a basic audio solution for modern computers. It provides good surround-sound capabilities, but it does not have all the normal features of other X-Fi cards. In this regard it is much closer to the Audigy line - and this also means that it is an inferior product to other X-Fi models when it comes to gaming.
It is worth noting that Microsoft has changed the way audio works in Windows Vista. DirectX and EAX hardware acceleration no longer function, in favor of a newer standard known as OpenAL. Creative Labs have developed a work-around, which allows DirectSound commands to be turned into OpenAL equivalents, so that older games can still have high-quality accelerated audio. However, this software does not work with the Xtreme Audio - so if you need this functionality please consider a higher-end sound card.
If you have any questions, be sure to contact our sales consultants at sales@pugetsystems.com. They will be happy to help you find the right sound card for your specific needs.
