The Scythe Big Shuriken is a low profile CPU cooler, but still manages to mount a large 120mm fan. The fan it comes with stock is slim, minimizing its profile, but can be replaced with a thicker, quieter fan if needed.
John Dinning (Research and Development Engineer) Says:
The Big Shuriken from Scythe is our best option for CPU cooling when a low-profile solution is required, such as for a home theater PC. The heatpipe design utilizes a high number of small fins for plenty of surface area to dissipate heat. It mounts a 120mm fan and comes with a high quality slim model. Compared to coolers that use a smaller diameter fan, this means lower RPMs and less noise. It is possible to mount a full-thickness fan if chassis space permits, but I would tend to think it unnecessary as the stock Scythe slim fan is already remarkably quiet.
