Puget Professional Advice
Daniel Brown (Customer Support - Lead Technician) Says:
I honestly don't see a good argument for using this CPU in your Puget PC.

The Intel Core i3 530 Processor is only marginally more expensive than the G6950 and includes (among other features missing from the G6950): Hardware-based HD video acceleration through Intel's 'Clear Video HD' technology, DDR3-1333 memory support (The G6950's onboard memory controller only supports DDR3-1066), Hyperthreading, and 33% more onboard cache. These features add up to a significant performance boost for most applications. The G6950 may even exhibit stuttering during high-bitrate HD video playback, since it lacks the hardware-assisted decoding.

William George (Customer Service) Says:
Finally Intel has a CPU based on a modern chip design that can compete on price with AMD's entry-level offerings. Intel motherboards still tend to be more expensive than AMD models, but if you are looking at an affordable ITX or MicroATX system and want to keep costs down then this is a great option.

Background on Intel Core i3/i5 CPU (Clarkdale)

The socket 1156 Clarkdale processors are dual-core versions of the larger Lynnfield CPUs - but with a built-in Intel graphics chip. This makes them ideal for more value-oriented situtations, or systems where top-end 3D performance isn't necessary. Note that the integrated video capabilities require a motherboard with the appropriate outputs, and if you add a dedicated video card it will disable the Intel video (both can't be used at the same time).
