- Optional CacheVault for Reliable Data Protection The other latest technology is the CacheVault which applies NAND flash memory and a super capacitor. During normal write-back operation, when a power failure occurs, CacheVault technology automatically transfers cached data from the DRAM cache to flash and stored for up to 3 years. Once power is restored, the data in the NAND flash is copied back into cache until it can be flushed to the disk drives. PIKE 2208 together with CacheVault, virtually eliminate hardware maintenance associated with BBU(battery-back-up), lower total cost of ownership over the life of the RAID card, and provide more environmentally friendly cache protection, all while maintaining optimal RAID performance.

ASUS PIKE 2208 is the first PCI-E 3.0 high performance and high reliability enterprise SAS 6Gb/s solution. It also can be backward compatible with existing 1.5Gb/s SATA and 3Gb/s SAS/SATA products and infrastructure and allows you to create RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10, RAID5, RAID 50, RAID6 and RAID 60.
