The Asus P9X79 Deluxe launched alongside Sandy Bridge-E processors from Intel. It utilizes socket 2011 and the X79 chipset to support four and six-core Intel Core i7 processors, quad-channel DDR3 memory, and a wide range of connectivity. Internal ports include both SATA 2 (3Gbps) and 3 (6Gbps), while there are external ports for audio, networking, eSATA, and both USB 2.0 & 3.0; even Bluetooth is included.

This motherboard is loaded with features! It has just about everything you could ask for: dual gigabit Ethernet ports, WiFi, Bluetooth, dual powered eSATA ports, USB 3.0 (six ports on the back!), USB 2.0, and full digital and analog audio output. It is missing one thing of note, though: Firewire (IEEE 1394A). I haven't seen a top-end motherboard like this without Firewire since... well, since Firewire came out. Its exclusion makes sense, given the far faster speeds of eSATA and USB 3.0 - but if you have older devices that need it make sure to get an add-on card to provide it.

Bluetooth and ESATA share lanes with the two PCI-E x1 slots on this motherboard. In order to have this functionality, no cards may be installed into those slots.
