The X-Series 560W power supply from Seasonic is unique in being a high powered modular power supply with the 80 PLUS Gold rating. It also has a unique cooling setup, in that the 120mm fan turns off entirely at lower power loads. Between that and its overall efficiency rating in excess of 87%, this unit provides both a high level of power and a reliable, quiet configuration.

This power supply is extremely efficient, and will completely turn off its fan under low load (such as when your PC is idle). It is a great pick for a silent PC.

I have one of these power supplies now, in my small form factor desktop system - and the fan does indeed turn off at low power draw / heat levels (making it great for a quiet system). However, it is worth noting that if the fan does need to turn on - if the system gets hot enough or draws a lot of power - then the fan is very noticable for a time. Its like they have it kick in at a high speed to dissipate the heat, and then it ramps down to the level of other quiet power supplies. For me, this only happens when I kick into a longer gaming session... so it wouldn't be a problem for a lot of folks.

My favorite thing about this power supply is that it is fully modular. Modular power supplies often leave the mainboard and 4/8 pin connectors as regular cables, with no modularity. This generally isn't a big deal, but in the unlikely case that one of these units blows, replacing is much easier, as you just need to disconnect all the modular plugs.
