The Corsair HS1 headset is a comfortable-but-powerful audio system. It fits easily over the ears, helping to block out other sounds, and the quality of the audio - both for listening and recording - is excellent.

Because it connects via USB, this completely bypasses a computer's internal sound card. If these are what you plan to use for audio, and you won't have a bigger set of speakers in addition, then there is no point to spending money on a sound card.

I've tried this Corsair HS1 headset, and must say I like it. The headphones fit around your ears, rather than applying pressure on top of the ears. As a result, I can wear this headset for a lot longer period of time without my ears hurting from the pressure that the other type of headphones apply to the top of your ears. Another benefit of the headset fit sealing around the outside of your ears is that they block outside ambient noise from interfering with your headphone audio. This means that you don't have to crank the volume up as much if you ONLY want to hear what is being played over your headphones. Even though this is a subjective quality, I wanted to mention that I found the audio quality of this set to be very good. One thing to note is that the audio volume on these headphones tends to be set high, and is controlled by the computer OS. Without the software installed, I had to set the volume between 1-2 have it at a tolerable volume. Beyond that and you would likely suffer from hearing loss. After installing the software that comes with this headset, it allows for much lower volume settings. There is an in-line volume control and Mic mute built in to the USB cable coming off this headset, but it just controls the OS volume control, rather than being a separate volume control for just the headset.
