Puget Description

The new GTX 460 is an updated version of the Fermi graphics processor, but scaled down a little to compete with other mid-range video cards. Its performance for the price is excellent, and works particularly well in SLI (two cards paired together for increased gaming horsepower). The lower amount of onboard RAM does give it a disadvantage at extremely high resolutions when compared to pricier options, but it excels at what it is aimed at: gaming and medium to high resolutions without breaking the bank.

Another side-effect of the lower price is less heat, and that has translated into lower noise levels as well. Those advances have made this the first Fermi-based card that isn't loud under heavy usage, so if you need nVidia-base DX11 performance in a quiet computer this is the way to go.

Puget Professional Advice
William George (Customer Service) Says:
This is the first card in nVidia's 400-series that is not rediculously loud - and in fact, it is quite the opposite: nearly silent. If you want a quiet computer without sacrificing on 3D performance, and especially if you want 3D Vision, CUDA or PhysX support (which ATI doesn't offer), then this is a great card to go for. Two of these in SLI are about the same level of performance as a GTX 480 (though they don't do as well at extremely high resolutions) - and yet the price is lower and the noise level / heat output are also lower.
