When the pandemic hit last year, it threw everyone into a tailspin. Not only did we have to adjust, but so did a number of our clients. One of our game development clients in particular had to change how they deployed the new systems we were building for them. To make matters more challenging, they were on a hiring blitz so needed machines set up quickly. Pre-Covid we would simply ship the computers to their office, they would image the machines, and then deploy them to staff in their building.
After Covid, everyone was sent home so now we had to split the systems up, send a batch of machines to each individual IT staff’s home. They would have to unbox each system, remote image, re-package the system and then ship it to their staff member’s home.
That took a lot more time and a lot more coordination. There had to be a better way.
After a zoom discussion with them about their pain points given the new process, we came up with a plan to give them the ability to remote into their machines once we had built the system so they could load their image onto the system. Once that was done, we simply packaged the system and sent it directly to their staff member’s house.
This saved them a tremendous amount of time in terms of setup per machine as well as lessened the chance of shipping damage since we now only had to ship the computer once.
