We got final word today on the ETA and pricing of the first dual core processors, so we've posted them to our website for pre-sales! Both Intel Pentium4 and AMD Opteron will be available in dual core in mid to late May. Opteron 8x processors are available in dual core TODAY!

Also added today, coming soon:

BFG 6800 Ultra OC 512MB -- arriving end of the week
Asus P5ND2-SLI (P4 SLI, Dual Core) -- arriving mid May
Asus P5WD2 Premuim (P4 Dual Core) -- arriving mid May

Sweet! Time for me to make some upgrades when those come out ;)

Will that board support the Pentium4 775 3.4GHz EE or the Pentium4 775 3.73GHz 1066FSB EE w/ EM64T? And SLI, you don't need to have two video cards, correct? Will it still function just as well with one?

Yep, yep, and yep! :-D It will have roughly half the gaming video horsepower, of course, but yeah, no reason you can't run a single video card in a SLI motherboard.

Also added today is the AMD 3700+ Rev E. It uses a 90nm process, putting out less heat!

is it just me, or do the dual core intels not show up on the configure page?

EDIT: my bad, it wasn't there last week, i forgot to check before posting, stupid me :)

Update, the P5ND2 just came down by a huge $70, and it available 9 days sooner, on the 11th! But we do expect them to sell out almost instantly, so if you're thinking of getting one, I'd say a pre-order is your only way to get one on the first batch.

(P4 Dual Core) -- arriving mid May

So is it the 8x that are in the configurator now or are those the 2x? Any good advice you can give on whether to go Intel or Amd on these? A "religious" discussion at best, but any info you can give would be helpful. I believe Opteron-based boards are a little more future-proof than Intel w/ regards to not having to replace the entire MB when upgrading cpu's.

Thanks.

We have both on the website, the 8x are in stock now, the 2x are ETA 5/21. Yes, we are seeing better forward-compatibility on the Opteron side, IE the K8WE which was out a month ago already supports dual core.

Update: we've now updated our entire Athlon64 939 pin line to 90nm, except for the 4000+ :thumbsup

X2 - When? June?

Yeah, Athlon64 Dual Core should be in June. We'll most definitely announce an ETA the second we have one.
