New Traverse Laptop Screens and Options

Posted on May 6, 2013 by Jon Bach

Today, we are announcing a number of new options on our Traverse laptops. We are greatly expanding our screen options, and are providing some security related options. We know that as a custom laptop provider, it is important that we offer choice. With laptops, offering that choice is often a challenge, as many parts are propietary and only available from the factory. These changes are a significant improvement in bringing more of the work in house, and we're excited about these changes and the enhancements it brings to our products and services.

New Screen Options

For years, we have been providing screen options by special request, but it was never convenient or cost effective. As of today, we now fully carry and stock a wide array of screen options for each laptop we carry. We carry both glossy and matte screen options, to suit your preferences, and for a number of our units, we also now carry 90-95% NTSC wide-gamut screens. We're working on providing even more options! Here is what we offer as of today:

  1366x768 1080P Standard 1080P Wide-Gamut
Notebook Matte Glossy Matte Glossy Matte Glossy
Travese V150i 11"
Traverse B550i 15"
Traverse V552i 15"
Traverse V752i 17"
Traverse Pro M550i 15"
Traverse Pro M750i 17"

We're excitied to be able to offer some wide-gamut options, for you photographers and designers out there! These screens can render a larger percent of the visible light spectrum, which is important for accuracy when editing photos or doing any other creative work that touches on color reproduction (such as color correction in video editing).

The other thing this changes does is that it brings our screen installation and repairs in house. Why is that important? It is MUCH faster, and we can tightly control the quality of parts and the care with which your laptop is handled.

New Security Features

We've been seeing more and more requests for the removal of webcam and/or microphone from our laptops. If you are with the government, or a corporation, your security policies might dictate that they must be removed. Or maybe you just don't like the idea of a webcam staring at you 24 hours a day! Those parts come from the factory installed, but with a little time and elbow grease, it is no problem for us to remove them! We are happy to offer removal of both as a standard service we provide.

Next Steps

While these two additions are a great step forward, we're not stopping there. We're hard at work sourcing even higher quality screens, and we want to take more and more of these laptops in house. AC adapters, keyboards, batteries -- the laptop world is a confusing and frustrating world, and we want to shield you from those pains. If you have worked with us in the past, you can testify that working with Puget Systems is a very positive experience. We know that the best way to keep your experience positive with our products, is to take ownership of as much as we can in the design, manufacuring and support of those products!

While we're working on it -- what would YOU like to see in a laptop from Puget Systems?
