Aquarium Computer / Blu-Ray Special
Puget Custom Computers July 2007 Newsletter

It is time for another newsletter! You are receiving this email because you have subscribed to the Puget Custom Computers newsletter on {sub_date}. We do not EVER send unsolicited emails. If you would like to unsubscribe from this list, you'll find a link at the bottom of this email for that. Remember that by being on this list, you are entered into our drawing for a free computer system.

Two months ago, you might have seen the aquarium computer we built, which is cooled by submersion in mineral oil. It proved to be very popular across the internet, bringing in about half a million visitors and still getting thousands of views a day. If anyone is in the Seattle area and would like to give it a look, we welcome you to stop by! After two months, we have received a lot of questions about this setup, so we have posted an update to answer many of those questions. Do the fans burn out eventually? Does the oil corrode any of the components? Is the system still stable? Check out our update page at https://www.pugetsystems.com/submerged.php#update for the answers!

*** BLU-RAY PROMOTION (July 15 - August 15) ***

This month is our first Puget Promotion, which we hope to turn into a regular event. We realize that Blu-Ray is something many of our customers are interested in. We were introduced to a great product with the Panasonic SW-5582 optical drive, and we brought in a healthy inventory of the drives. To get a strong start, we decided to roll out this product at a great discount, as well as bundle it with a killer software suite from Arcsoft. We are hoping the High-Def capabilities will appeal to our Home Theater PC crowd and that 50GB Dual Layer burning capabilities will hit a nerve with our other power users. This special Blu-Ray promotion is only good until August 15th, and you can take a look at the full details at https://www.pugetsystems.com/all_news.php?newsid=2882!

Other exciting areas of development in the life of Puget are the relationships we are building with part manufacturers such as Intel and nVidia. As Puget continues to grow in size and influence within the custom computer industry, we are being introduced to more opportunities that will enable us to work directly with the companies that make the parts we integrate into each of our computers. These relationships are beneficial to our customers for many reasons. First, working more closely with each vendor dramatically improves our part availability, meaning less lead time for high-demand parts. Second, these relationships give us direct access to the vendor's technical support departments, which will dramatically improve our support and repair processes. Finally, these type of partnerships give us many resources that we can use to encourage the growth of our company. All in all, we are very pleased to be recognized as a premier system builder and strategic partner by some of the leading part manufacturers in the world. Look out for some huge improvements to our company in coming months!

As Linux continues to gain popularity, Puget is happy to announce the addition of Unbutu Linux to our product line. For a minimal installation and media fee of $14.50, we will install Ubuntu Linux 7.04 onto your custom computer. At the same time, we have added a "No OS" option to our configure pages so that you can take care of the operating system on your own if you choose. For more details on our Linux options, take a look at our alternate OS page at https://www.pugetsystems.com/alternate_os.php .
