On the Go Computing

SEATTLE, WA (September 10, 2008) – Puget Systems (www.pugetsystems.com), a boutique integrator of custom PC systems for enthusiasts, gamers, consumers and SMB markets, today announced the immediate availability of its “Back-to-School” portable computer system, specially tailored for students. Based on Puget Systems’ Obsidian desktop system platform, the Back-to-School system is powered by Intel’s latest dual and quad core processors, and features a specially chosen lineup of power supply, memory, hard drives, and cooling accessories -- all selected for their low field-tested failure rates and configured in a small form factor chassis ideal for students’ dorm rooms or small apartments that can’t accommodate full size towers.

The Obsidian Back-to-School system is powerful, lightweight and portable, making it the ideal system for students who carry a heavy course load, but prefer a smaller, light weight desktop system. The Back-to-School system is also designed to help students unwind after a busy day, with powerful GPU options, making it perfect for gaming, video and music files and light weight portability for traveling to events like LAN parties. The system ships with its own gig bag and comes with a free Puget Systems t-shirt.

“We understand that parents and students are bombarded with back to school offers, while questions about features, options, technology and ‘what system is right for me’ become overwhelming. That’s why we created this system,” said Jon Bach, president of Puget Systems. “The Puget Back-to-School system not only offers high performance and portability at a low-cost, more importantly, it offers students and parents full access to our staff of experts who can walk them through the configuration process step by step, in a helpful and non intimidating fashion to ensure they receive the most powerful, yet low-cost desktop system specially tailored for students’ needs.”

The Puget Systems ‘Back-to-School’ Obsidian system is available immediately with prices for a base system starting as low as $1,000.00. While a typical base system includes a number of core components, students -- with the help of Puget Systems’ team of experts, if they choose -- can upgrade to components of their choice to suit their system and usage requirements. A base system includes the following components:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz processor
Kingston 2GB DDR2-800 RAM
Intel GMA 3100 Graphics
320 GB Western Digital SATA2 Quiet drive
Pioneer 20x DVD-RW SATA drive

Jon,
I'm very impressed with the configurations you've come up with for these along with the attractive price! I've really liked the Silverstone SFF cases since they were first released. Not only would one of these be perfect for a student but for anyone who doesn't need a power PC or has space constraints or who just really likes the elegance of the SFF. Great job! :thumbsup
