Puget Systems at PAX!

Posted on September 4, 2007 by Ed Borden

Last weekend we had the great experience of demoing alongside nVidia at the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) 2007! We were absolutely amazed at the turn-out - there were over 30,000 pre-registrations!

For those who don't know, PAX is gaming festival covering the gamut from PC to tabletop to console. Besides an exhibition hall where we boothed, there were tournaments, conferences, and all kinds of crazy stuff to keep everyone busy for the full three days that it was held.

This year we had a great time partnering with nVidia. We have really been working very closely with them recently, and this was a great chance to make a showing with them at a great venue. Our section of the booth was right next to an Army recruiting display, which featured a life-size hummer ride with machine guns. It was interesting yelling over the carnage to talk to people about the awesome gear we brought.

First, our oil-cooled computer was an absolute hit. If you don't know about this yet, take a look. Everyone loved seeing this in person, and we really enjoyed telling everyone over and over again that putting fish in it was probably not a good idea. We also brought along the most powerful monstrosity of a computer in the entire Seattle area, our custom liquid-cooled Quad-core QX6850 8800 Ultra SLI behemoth. Plus, we got to tell people who didn't know us that we are LOCAL and can do it for them too!

All in all, it a great time and we look forward to next year! Check out the PAX website and we'll see you there!
