The Tripp-Lite OmniVS provides protection against unexpected power loss, and in doing so also helps protect against data loss which can occur if a system shuts down in the middle of writing data. Having a power back-up is particularly crucial for servers and high-end workstations, but is recommended for all customers who live in areas with frequent blackouts or brownouts.

This specific power backup unit is ideal for powerful computers that can draw high amounts of current. If you are unsure of how large a battery backup your new computer may need, please contact our sales consultants!

Jon Bach (President) Says:
Power backup is a VERY good idea, but if you're going to do it, do it right and get a quality unit. We use this unit all over our office, and in our production department.

Jeff Stubbers (Tier 3 Consulting Lead) Says:
Not only are battery backups important for saving your work from a sudden power outage, but they protect your system from damage as well. Brownouts and power spikes from your power line can cause stress to the power supply in your system. Battery backups compensate for these fluctuations and can help to give your system a longer life span.

It's also important to keep in mind that you will want a power backup that can handle your monitor as well as your system. If the power does go out, you will need to see your monitor in order to save your documents and properly shut down your system. I have this exact battery backup device at home, and it has saved me on multiple occasions.
