Case Fans Upgrade Kit (PWM Ramping)

Additional Cooling

Case Fans Upgrade Kit (PWM Ramping) Main Picture

The twin goals of this kit are to increase cooling performance over the fans included in most cases, while also helping to reduce overall system noise levels. It includes the replacement of all stock 120mm and 140mm fans with upgraded models, along with adding any additional fans that might be necessary to ensure a well-ventilated system. Each fan has a 4-pin PWM header, allowing it to be controlled by pulse-width modulation from the motherboard, which can then dynamically adjust fan speeds based on temperature. With this degree of control over cooling, a system can be much quieter at low load levels while also capable of handling additional heat under heavier usage.

We currently use Noctua fans for this kit, but as we discover new, quieter fans, the brand may change (it also can vary depending on the size of fans the case needs). In most instances this kit will involve at least two fans, and sometimes as many as four. We won't always put fans in every possible spot in the case - as sometimes the extra airflow is either unnecessary or not worth the extra noise. If you have specific requests for fan placement please contact your sales rep.

One of the most cost-effective ways to improve a computer is to upgrade the cooling fans it uses. Every system needs airflow to keep components cool, even liquid-cooled systems, and the stock fans that come pre-installed in a chassis are usually not the state-of-the-art. This kit lets our experienced production team decide what your particular configuration needs in terms of cooling and replace or adjust the fans accordingly. The fans we use in this kit also connect directly to the motherboard so their speed can be controlled based on system temperature - giving a wider range of cooling capability, at the cost of added noise when things get hotter.

This ramping fan upgrade kit is a great option that gives you the best of both worlds. You get very quiet operation at idle, but when the system is under load the fans will speed up to provide increased cooling. That means the noise level will be a bit higher when the system heats up, but I think this kit offers a really good compromise. Quiet operation when you want it and extra cooling when you need it.
