Supermicro built this as a high performance, low-profile CPU cooler for Intel's Xeon Scalable processors. It fits well in 2U and 3U rackmount cases, but because space is so limited in those chassis the fan is small and runs at very high rpm. That means this cooler can be quite loud even when the fan isn't running at maximum speed.
