Highpoint's RocketRAID 3720C is an 8-port SAS / SATA controller card with support for a wide range of RAID modes. It uses a PCI-Express x8 slot and includes both full and half-height brackets, so it can fit in almost any system so long as there is a free expansion slot that has x8 or more lanes. For cooling there is a heatsink but no fan, so this card does not add any noise to the system - though if you are using traditional hard drives with it those will definitely be noisy. SATA-based SSDs are supported as well, though, for users who want high capacity, redundancy, and quiet operation.
