The JDS Labs Element II is a combination of an extremely high-quality digital to analog converter with a powerful headphone amplifier in one box. It connects to a computer via USB and also requires a separate power connection (for the amplifier). Output is provided in the form of either a 1/4-inch headphone plug on the front or left and right RCA preamp outputs, for powered speakers, on the back. There is a large volume knob on the top of the unit, with the few other controls and connectors on the rear.

One thing to note about this DAC is that the headphone and RCA outputs cannot both be active at the same time. You can switch between them by pressing and holding the power button.

JDS Labs lists this DAC as having ASIO and UAC2 support, which is important for audio recording.
