AMD's Radeon R9 390 is a refresh to the previous R9 290, with the core clock speed slightly increased to boost performance - and with double the memory as well. The speed increase puts it just a hair faster than the card it replaces, and the added VRAM will help with game performance at high resolution. Like most other Radeon cards in the 200- and 300-series, the R9 390 supports several GPU technologies: Eyefinity, Crossfire, Mantle, DirectX 12, OpenGL, OpenCL Accelerated Parallel Processing, the Havok physics engine, and 3D Blu-ray movies.

This specific Asus version of the R9 390 has a dual fan cooler for increased cooling capacity at a lower noise level. A potential drawback to this design is that it exhausts hot air into the chassis instead of out the back of the system, which means it can cause a slight temperature increase to other nearby components (CPU, chipset, etc). For display output, two DVI, one HDMI, and one DisplayPort are present.
