This full tower workstation is based on the Peak Dual Xeon, with hardware options narrowed down to focus on providing the best performance in Zemax OpticStudio. A dual processor system like this is ideal for ray tracing of STL files, which scale very across both multiple cores and physical processors (up to 64 total "CPUs"). Optimization also scales reasonably well, though it does not gain as much from multiple cores / processors as STL file ray tracing.
OpticStudio uses very little RAM and the file sizes are not huge, so drive capacity and speed are not critical factors. The video card selection should be based more on what other programs you will use alongside OpticStudio, since it is not very graphically demanding.
