Puget Systems Recycling Program

According to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), Americans now own about 24 electronic products per household and the number continues to increase. Nearly 2.4 million tons of electronic waste hit US landfills each year according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Computers have proliferated to the point where many homes have more than one, and the waste results from unlawful disposal can cause substantial damage to our environment. Over 140,000 computers and 400,000 phones are thrown away each day, according to the EPA, and we'd like to help reduce the number of PCs that end up in landfills.

At Puget Systems we want to provide you with an option when it comes to retiring your old Puget Systems computer. To this end we've created a recycling program based on state laws that govern the recycling of electronics.

Puget Systems will:

  • Provide shipping label and cover US shipping of your old Puget Systems PC.
  • Securely wipe or destroy all hard drives on request.
  • Safely recycle your computer, mice and keyboard.

Note: At this time, we are unable to accept any monitors.

Puget Systems has partnered with a licensed recycling company whose goal is to keep electronics out of landfills. They do this by refining most metals for other uses and properly disposing of any chemicals and byproducts. During the process, 100% of the steel from the computer is recycled. Rubber, plastic, and chemicals are removed. Shredded metal, a low-grade metal is produced and used again, keeping tons of waste out of landfills.

The EPA also provides options for those who would like to donate or recycle their electronics locally. You can find out more at: http://www.epa.gov/epawaste/conserve/materials/ecycling/donate.htm
