We are often asked to built incredibly powerful computers at Puget Systems, but it's less common for a real estate agent to approach us about building a workstation-class computer. We wanted to learn more about his work and how he used his computer, and he graciously agreed to answer a few questions for us.
Q: Tell us a bit about your job.
A: I'm a real estate agent in Miami specializing in luxury condo sales and rentals. The vast majority of my business comes from Internet marketing, whether it be through social media or through one of several real estate websites that I own and operate. My main website, www.miamicondoinvestments.com, ranks incredibly well with the search engines. In fact, it currently ranks #1 on Google for major search phrases such as "Miami condos" and "Miami luxury condos". That website's success can be mainly attributed to the amount blogging that I did from 2007-2011. It had quite a following during those days. I still blog but not nearly as much as I once did. I'm far too busy these days to continue to blog on a consistent basis. However, as a result of that experience, I now realize the importance of content creation and its role in search engine marketing.
Q: How does your computer help you do your job?
A: My computer assists with a number of tasks such as photo editing, video editing, blogging, emailing, social marketing, graphic design, and storage. The main software products I use are Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects and Illustrator.
Q: Why don't you outsource the photo and video work to someone else?
A: There are two main reasons for why I no longer outsource my photo and video work. One, the creation process excites me. I truly enjoy having the ability to capture a scene just as I think it should be captured and sharing the end product with people from all over the world who find my content on the web. The second, and most important reason I no longer outsource my photo and video work, is because I want to have full control and ownership of my content. Not long ago, I discovered that outsourcing photo and video work grants you with an exclusive license to use that work as you please but it does not pass ownership. The copyright remains with the photographer or videographer. That could become an issue down the road if I were to ever sell one of my websites containing any of the outsourced works. An exclusive license allows you to use the works produced as you see fit but it does not allow you to resell it. The photographer or videographer could make a claim that they are entitled to a portion of the website sale since their content contributed to the amount paid. While this might sound like a stretch, I think it's better to be safe than sorry.
Q: What sets you apart from your competition?
A: I'm a one-stop shop when it comes to content creation and Internet marketing. I'm also very well versed when it comes to search engine optimization and social marketing. There are very few real estate agents out there who can say the same.
Q: Why did you trust Puget Systems to build your workstation?
A: I relied mainly on message board reviews that I came across on the Internet while researching custom PC builders. Everyone who had done business with Puget Systems had nothing but great things to say about them - from the quality parts and workmanship to the outstanding customer service and post-sale follow-up. I can honestly say that going with Puget Systems was an excellent choice because they exceeded my expectation in every way.
