The Asus X99 Deluxe/U3.1 is an update to one of the premiere motherboards for Intel's fifth generation of Core i7 processors. This is the first chipset (X99) and line of CPUs to use DDR4 memory, and this specific motherboard also brings a host of other connectivity with it. USB 2.0 and 3.0 are both present, of course, along with SATA 6Gbps, SATA Express, M.2, dual Gb Ethernet ports, WiFi 802.11ac, and audio.

The change this update brings is the bundling of a USB 3.1 card. It is a PCI-Express Gen2 x4 (running at x2 speed) card which provides two USB 3.1 Type A ports, above and beyond the many USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports built into the motherboard already.

William George (Marketing Project Manager) Says:
This board sports a new white-on-black color scheme from Asus - so it looks great in systems with a side window! It is also loaded with all the latest technology, so if you are looking for something that is future-proof this is a great choice. Please note that the bundled USB 3.1 card will take up one of the expansion slots on the board. That will need to be factored in if you have a lot of other cards you will be using as well.
Josh Raye (Research and Development SME)
Josh Raye (Research and Development SME) Says:
A great looking high end motherboard with tons of features. There's a whopping 10 USB 3.0 ports on the back, tons of PCI-e slots, 8 RAM slots with quad channel capability, and onboard 3x3 wireless AC. The CPU options are also more robust than a typical motherboard, with options for 8 core, and even 10 core processors.
