Puget Professional Advice
Jon Bach (President) Says: I'm happy to see Antec taking some measures to add some style to their cases -- they've been so boring in the past! These P183 cases do a great job cooling, and are the quietest case in our line. The front door also seems more stiff, which is good -- we had some problems with the P182 doors warping over time.
Wilson Chau (Customer Service) Says: I agree that that the Antec cases can be a bit boring, but I'm not a fan of how they try to make it look sexy in this case. The front holes coming down the right side of the front door just don't do it for me. Otherwise, it's still a pretty solid quiet and cool case.
Daniel Brown (Customer Support - Lead Technician) Says: The P18x series chassis' have been among our best selling for quite awhile now. There are good reasons behind this: First, they are designed to keep your computer quiet. Second, they have great cooling performance. Third, they offer relatively easy upgrades with easily removable internal drive bays and optical drive rails that clip in. The P183 is the latest update in the P18x series. It has some significant cooling improvements and some styling changes, as well as some slight changes in overall functionality.
Please check it's dimensions against the place you intend to put it. I've talked to a few people who were totally surprised by how large it is 'in person'.
William George (Customer Service) Says: Unlike the transition from the P180 to P182, with the new P183 the color has not changed: it is still a nice gunmetal grey. However, there are several other changes - both aesthetic and functional in nature - which differentiate this model from its predecessors. The new front design, both of the door itself and the bays behind the door, is intended to improve airflow; whether you like the appearance, though, is up to personal taste. On the inside one of the fans has been moved around to allow larger power supplies, which is nice, but now it is closer to the front of the case and might add a little bit to noise.
Personally I like the look of the older models more - but if you are going for a quiet system this series of cases from Antec is still the best choice I've found.
Matt Bach (Production Manager) Says: The Antec P182 has been one of our best selling cases for a long time. The changes Antec made with the P183 are almost all aimed at improving the cooling potential of the case. A lot of the changes (grilled front bay covers, relocation of the the bottom fan, etc) really do improve performance quite a bit, but they also make the case slightly louder then it's predecessor; the Antec P182.
This is still one of the most quiet cases on the market; so if noise is a concern, I highly recommend this case.
