This Firewire card can be used to add two Firewire 800 ports and a Firewire 400 port. As such, it's perfect for somebody who might be using several types of Firewire devices.

These cards sometimes have compatibility issues with certain hardware configurations. If we encounter a problem during the build process, we may substitute a Startech brand replacement card.

Jeff Stubbers (Tier 3 Consulting Lead) Says:
Firewire is on its way out, replaced by faster USB 3.0 ports, so you may want to consider whether or not you really need to add this card to your system. However, if you do have some devices that you need to connect to your system with Firewire, then this card will add 1 Firewire 400 (IEEE 1394a), and 2 Firewire 800 (IEEE 1394b) ports to the back of your system.
