A feature-rich MicroATX motherboard for Intel's Sandy Bridge processors, the Asus P8Z68-M Pro offers connectivity options aimed at a wide range of uses. The onboard video outputs include VGA, DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort; two monitors at a time are supported, which is a popular setup for business users. For audio, the board features surround-sound support via either digital (optical SPDIF & HDMI) or analog ports: must-have features for home-theater systems. A gigabit-speed Ethernet port is provided for networking, and the mix of USB 2.0, USB 3.0, and eSATA ports covers connectivity with a wide range of accessories. Lastly, the variety of internal expansion slots means even more functionality can be built into systems based on this motherboard.

This motherboard is an excellent unit all around, with a wider range of video outputs than I've ever seen - even on a dedicated graphics card. All four standards from the last two decades are offered, but please note the maximum resolutions: 1920x1200 for DVI & HDMI, 2048 x 1536 for VGA, and 2560x1600 over DisplayPort. If you need to hook up a higher resolution monitor, like one of the 30" monsters out there, you need to make sure to get one with a DisplayPort connection. Because this motherboard uses the Z68 chipset, you can also run a dedicated video card in tandem with the onboard graphics. There is a software package included with the board which manages running both graphics devices, allowing you to use a dedicated card for more heavy-duty 3D work / games and also have access to the Intel on-chip graphics for features like QuickSync.
