Puget Systems Description

The first video card in nVidia's GeForce 500-series, the GTX 580 is a definite upgrade over the 480. In addition to being about 10-20% faster, it uses less electricity and has an improved heatsink design that reduces noise substantially compared to previous nVidia flagship cards.

In addition to those improvements, the GTX 580 inherits the same performance traits and features of previous Fermi-based designs. It is excellent at maintaining good frame-rates in games, not dipping too low even in graphics-laden titles. SLI scaling is also very good on these cards, though not all cases can adequately cool two of them. It also supports CUDA, DX11, and nVidia's 3D Vision technology.

Puget Systems Professional Advice
William George (Customer Service) Says:
While faster than the GTX 480 it replaces, the 580 is actually quieter and lower in power usage. That is a welcome relief, as the higher-end 400-series cards from nVidia were quite noisy!
