NVIDIA's A100 is built for GPU computing. It is based on the Ampere graphics chip, and is very similar to a video card - but with an emphasis on pure calculation performance rather than actually rendering graphics on a monitor. In fact, it doesn't have display outputs at all! As such, these cards cards should either be paired with another NVIDIA card to handle display output or used in a completely headless server.
Another unique aspect of this card is that it is passively cooled, meaning it has no cooling fan of its own. Cards like this can only be used in cases which provide the necessary amount of airflow across the PCI-Express slot area. That generally limits their use to specially designed rackmount chassis. If you want a card such as this but are unsure which of our systems support it, please contact our technology consultants.
