This LSI Host Bus Adapter card provides 16 SAS 6Gbps ports for connecting drives. It also supports SATA drives, as well as a battery backup option - which is ideal if the system is not going to be hooked up to a dedicated uninterruptable power supply (UPS). It requires a PCI-Express 2.0 x8 slot, or larger, on the motherboard.
