The enterprise-grade U.2 solid-state drives (SSDs) we carry here at Puget Systems offer a combination of high-capacity and high-speed storage for demanding workloads. Housed in a standard 2.5-inch form factor, these drives use the NVMe protocol to connect directly to the PCI Express bus and utilize PCIe Gen5 with theoretical speeds of around 12GB/s. Real-world performance is affected by a lot of other factors, though, so actual throughput will be lower and depends heavily on the workload and other system parameters. Enterprise-class drives like this also tend to offer slightly less capacity than consumer-oriented models, but in trade have much higher write endurance and thus will last longer in heavy-duty workloads.
