The M.2 solid-state drives (SSDs) we carry here at Puget Systems offer high-speed storage in a small package. These drives use the NVMe protocol to connect directly to the PCI Express bus, utilizing PCIe Gen5 with theoretical speeds of around 12GB/s. Real-world performance is affected by a lot of other factors, though, so actual throughput will be lower and depends heavily on the workload and other system parameters.
