The MSI S1206-02 is a 1U rackmount server offering dense CPU compute with built-in storage capabilities. It utilizes a pair of AMD EPYC 9005 Series processors, which each support a massive 128 PCI-Express Gen 5 lanes as well as 12 DDR5 memory channels - ensuring plenty of bandwidth and connectivity for various networking options and several NVMe solid-state drives.
Storage options include two internal M.2 slots for SSDs and twelve front-accessible hot-swap bays for U.2 NVMe SSDs. We generally recommend putting the OS on one of the M.2 slots and then using the easy-access bays in the front for storage as needed.
External connectivity consists of four USB ports (2 each in front and back) and a port for remote management. While there is no built-in networking, there is an OCP 3.0 slot for a dedicated NIC - as well as two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots for additional networking or other expansion cards.
