The MSI S2206-02 is a 2U rackmount server offering dense CPU compute with expansive built-in storage capabilities. It utilizes a pair of AMD EPYC 9005 Series processors, which each support a massive 128 PCI-Express Gen 5 lanes as well as 12 DDR5 memory channels - ensuring plenty of bandwidth and connectivity for various networking options and a host of NVMe solid-state drives.
Storage options include two internal M.2 slots and twelve front-accessible, hot-swap 3.5-inch drive bays. Eight of those bays support SATA/SAS drives, while the other four are wired for U.2 NVMe SSDs. We generally recommend putting the OS on one of the M.2 slots and then using the easy-access bays in the front for storage as needed.
External connectivity consists of four USB ports (2 each in front and back) and a port for remote management. There are also two built-in 1G Ethernet ports, an OCP 3.0 slot for a dedicated NIC, and three PCIe 5.0 x16 slots for additional networking or other expansion cards.
