Tyan Tempest EX S7100-EX Ports
Optical S/PDIF Out: Digital audio output port compatible with optical S/PDIF cables / devices (also called TOSLINK).
USB 3.2 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) Port(s): Universal Serial Bus (USB) port for connecting USB 3.2 Gen 1 and older devices (5 Gb/s).
IPMI LAN Port: RJ-45 plug for remote management of computer via IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface).
LAN Port (RJ-45): RJ-45 plug for connecting to a wired Local Area Network (LAN) via Ethernet at up to 100 Mbps.
VGA Out Port: Video Graphics Adapter (VGA) port for outputting analog video.
The Tyan Tempest EX S7100-EX is a server-oriented motherboard for the Xeon Scalable family of processors. There are sockets for two CPUs alongside 12 DDR4 RAM modules. For expansion, this board features seven PCI-Express slots. All are the full x16 size - although depending on which slots are populated, some may only run at x8 data speed.
In terms of external connectivity, the Tempest EX S7100-EX is fairly spartan: just four USB 3.0, dual gigabit Ethernet ports, and VGA output when a local terminal is needed. A bracket is also included for basic audio input and output, if desired. Internally there are two SATA 6Gbps ports, two M.2 slots, and three mini-SAS HD connectors - which can provide 12 more SATA ports via breakout cables, if you aren't using SAS drives. That wide range of drive connectivity, combined with the flexibility of seven PCI-E slots, makes this board a great platform for any number of server configurations.
