Burn-In Process
Any time you use new computer components, you are subject to the risk of manufacturing defects, shipping damage, and many other possible sources of hardware failure. A “burn-in” process stresses the components in a system, so that if they are close to failure, we can make sure they break here – allowing us to fix or replace them before the computer gets to our customer. It is much like the way Boeing puts huge stresses on aircraft wings before flying the aircraft: if the wings have a defect, and are going to fail, they want that failure to happen before the aircraft leaves the plant. So, a burn-in test helps ensure that only hardware without defects leaves our facility.
What exactly do we do? The first test we run is very targeted, with a rigorous memory verification tool that makes sure the proper amount of system RAM is detected and that it functions without error for an extended period of time. This test also hits the CPU pretty hard, and depending on the amount of memory in the computer can last several hours. It is critical to make sure that the RAM is rock-solid before moving on, though, since misbehaving memory can cause a whole host of issues once the operating system is up and running.
Next, Windows is installed and all driver and OS updates are applied. Afterward, we run several benchmarks to collect performance data which we use to make sure the workstation is performing as expected for its particular specifications. Toward the end of that process we use a combination of utilities at the same time, with the specific intention of pushing the hardware to its limits – putting the CPU, RAM, and GPU(s) under heavy load for several minutes to ensure stable operation, before considering the PC ready for quality control. A similar system-wide stress test is run again as part of QC, where we can also monitor temperatures to ensure adequate cooling and power draw from the wall to verify that the included power supply will be able to run the computer safely.

Computer damaged during shipping.
Puget support staff was very helpful and patient in helping me repair my workstation computer that was damaged in transit. The bracket holding the video card in place was broken and the card had slipped out of its connection with the motherboard. I repaired this with replacement video card bracket and instructions from Puget’s staff.
One of the storage sticks was not consistently recognized when the computer booted up. Support staff walked me through getting the information they needed to determine which of the sticks needed replacing. They sent a replacement stick which corrected the problem.
A lot of this was happening during the Thanksgiving Holidays and I could not give the computer my complete attention. Thankfully Puget Support staff was patient, and the computer has been running very reliably after the above two actions.
Amazing experience never seen before !
It was a great experience every step of the way, from the online configurator on the website, communicating with Geno Rosario (sales), getting updates from other team members, delivery, and finally turning on the new workstation – perfect build quality and quiet operation.
Puget Systems was on my radar for years…
When I finally was given the green light to get a “super-system” for 3D and animation, I went right to Puget Systems. I was NOT disappointed by their professionalism and response time. Working with Braden was great and he even helped me find a system that was exactly what I needed for a price that was less than I had configured. They did NOT try to gouge me and that was VERY impressive and they gained my trust AND future business.
Awesome experience
I’ve been wanting a Puget Systems build for a long time and was finally able to do it. I chose this company for their expertise and knowledge of the workflows and software used in my industry, and I expected a good experience. What made it an awesome experience was everything that came after the conversations with my sales rep. I loved how I could “watch” my computer being made every step of the way through the updates from every person who had a part in every process. And then at the end they even took pictures so I could see it finally before they shipped it out. I felt so cared for and confident I was receiving a top tier product even though I already knew that. I will not hesitate to get another system from them.
You get what you pay for – and with Puget Systems you get your monies worth.
I am a retired IT professional who served in the US Air Force retired and went on to work for the State of Alaska, the US Department of Veterans Affairs, and various smaller private commercial entities. I hold industry certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, Novell, CompTIA, BICSI, ETA, Siemon, and a host of others, including a BS in Information Technology and a Master’s in Information Assurance and Security. I have been around the block a few times. As a computer hobbyist now nine years ago, I built a desktop machine to be the production box in my home office, and it served me well for many years. But it was way past time for an upgrade. Despite my knowledge base and experience, the plethora of hardware choices was overwhelming, so I let Puget Systems help me out, and I’m here to say I am impressed. I’m impressed by the quality of the finished product, I’m impressed by the sales, tech support, and most of all, the customer service. The people at Puget Systems have an attention to detail that just doesn’t stop. I placed my order at the beginning of November, and even with the holiday rush of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the new box was in my hands in just over a week. The computer was not a budget buy, and I had high demands, and the folks at Puget Systems have met them. I can’t say enough about how satisfied I am. Thank you, Puget Systems.
Fantastic service
Jeff Stubbers was my first and main contact who guided me through all the options, based on my budget and software usage. I feel like I got the best system for my needs. After I made my purchase the assembly team was quick with updates on the progress. Altogether, I got my computer within three weeks after placing the order. The hardware was impeccably packaged and easy to get up and running. I will definitely be using Puget Systems next time I need a new computer.
Absolutely Fantastic
I edit YouTube videos for a living, and my aging gaming PC was struggling to keep up with the demanding software and large MP4 files used in the creation of my videos. The customer service received from Puget Systems far exceeded what most people expect these days. Before placing my order for a new PC, a representative reached out to me so he knew exactly what my work load is, so that they could build a PC perfectly catered to my exact needs. Upon receiving the PC, it was expertly packaged, and I had zero issues upon initial startup. Its obvious that they perform thorough testing before the unit is shipped out. I will always recommend them, and look forward to working with them in the future.
New PC
Had a few shipping and install issues, but got it installed and working. Appreciate the help from Terrell Barnes. This replaces a Win 10 Puget PC which was very reliable, but incompatible with Win 11.
Unbelievable!
Wow. I have never had such amazing customer service and now that my new laptop is on my lap, I can say that I have never had such a beautiful piece of hardware. I had a similar laptop that ended up with a cracked screen that could not be repaired, so I decided to look into Puget Systems now that they deliver to Canada. To my surprise for the same price as my old laptop, I now have 10 extra TB of storage, a keyboard that is second to none, extra HDMI cable, extra power cable and a 2 year warranty. I am truly impressed and grateful to all those who worked on my system.
In addition it is half the weight and much quieter than my previous laptop.
Thank you,
Brad Peters
