The Gigabyte X299 AORUS 7 is an ATX size, enthusiast-grade motherboard utilizing the X299 chipset from Intel. That chipset is built to support Intel's Core-X series i7 and i9 processors, along with eight DDR4 memory slots.

A wide range of connectivity is provided as well: eight standard USB 3.1 ports, a ninth USB 3.1 Type C port, dual Gb Ethernet, WiFi, audio, and even a legacy PS/2 port. Internally it has eight SATA ports, three M.2 connectors, and a wide mix of PCI-Express 3.0 slots.
William George (Puget Labs)
William George (Puget Labs) Says:
Both normal DIMMs and RDIMMS are supported by the AORUS 7, though ECC functionality is not officially supported. Also, the PCI-Express slot speeds depend on the processor installed. Lower-end chips have fewer PCI-E lanes, so if you plan on getting a lot of expansion cards you may want to check with our consultants to make sure you get a CPU that will support everything you need.
Josh Raye (Production Manager)
Josh Raye (Production Manager) Says:
The Gigabyte X299 AORUS 7 is good platform to start a computer from. Features like WiFi, USB-C, and quality audio are on-board so you wont need to use your expansion slots to add that functionality. It also is compatible with registered memory which raises its maximum RAM capacity to 512GB. It's worth noting we disable the motherboard LEDs in the BIOS, so no need to worry and intense lighting shown in the product photography. Buuut, if you're into that sort of thing they are easily re-enabled.
