Burn-In Process
Any time you use new computer components, you are subject to the risk of manufacturing defects, shipping damage, and many other possible sources of hardware failure. A “burn-in” process stresses the components in a system, so that if they are close to failure, we can make sure they break here – allowing us to fix or replace them before the computer gets to our customer. It is much like the way Boeing puts huge stresses on aircraft wings before flying the aircraft: if the wings have a defect, and are going to fail, they want that failure to happen before the aircraft leaves the plant. So, a burn-in test helps ensure that only hardware without defects leaves our facility.
What exactly do we do? The first test we run is very targeted, with a rigorous memory verification tool that makes sure the proper amount of system RAM is detected and that it functions without error for an extended period of time. This test also hits the CPU pretty hard, and depending on the amount of memory in the computer can last several hours. It is critical to make sure that the RAM is rock-solid before moving on, though, since misbehaving memory can cause a whole host of issues once the operating system is up and running.
Next, Windows is installed and all driver and OS updates are applied. Afterward, we run several benchmarks to collect performance data which we use to make sure the workstation is performing as expected for its particular specifications. Toward the end of that process we use a combination of utilities at the same time, with the specific intention of pushing the hardware to its limits – putting the CPU, RAM, and GPU(s) under heavy load for several minutes to ensure stable operation, before considering the PC ready for quality control. A similar system-wide stress test is run again as part of QC, where we can also monitor temperatures to ensure adequate cooling and power draw from the wall to verify that the included power supply will be able to run the computer safely.

I’ve been a customer for
I’ve been a customer for at least 10 years and have ordered many PCs from Puget. The quality is always top-notch, and the support is great.
Ever pour water into a computer?
Well, I have. Just once in 40 years, and it was a Puget Systems computer. The biggest most tricked out workstation I have ever purchased. I didn’t even realize the water had flowed off my desk and into the box until the machine froze. Then I turned it off dried it out and the next day tried to restart it, to no avail. When I was on with tech support they had me read some codes from the motherboard and walked me through what to do. It worked and I had only fried one memory stick. This review is not about the wonderful tech support, that was first class, not the gentle follow up the next day to see how it went. No this is about my experience sitting in front of the open case watching it flicker and reboot after removing one stick of memory. I realized just how elegant the build was. There was nothing half measured here. All the wiring harnesses were neat and tidy. Everything was just right. It had me mesmerized for a little bit. Over my career I have purchased for myself or my employees probably around three hundred computers, many of them the best HP or IBM had to offer, good boxes all of them. But the build quality of the Puget, and their wonderful sales and tech team, have me committed to become a lifelong buyer from them. They just do it right.
Perfect
I am a local customer who always purchases my PC’s from Puget Systems. The sales department is outstanding and Wilson Chau has been terrific to work with as is his team. The technical staff is exceptional and will get to the root of any problem faster than any other company I’ve dealt with. I recommend Puget Systems for their courtesy, helpfulness and professional excellence. I am a loyal customer since 2009. My new laptop is lighter and still maintains the speed and processing power to edit in Photoshop and Topaz.
Exceptional
I am exceptionally happy with the products and services provided by Puget Systems. My prior Puget computer completely met my needs for many years, and the service provided by the company was unsurpassed. The only reason I had to replace my older computer was because my Windows version was no longer supported by Microsoft. I felt absolutely no need compare Puget with other manufacturers. In setting up my new computer Puget support staff continued to show their unsurpassed performance I have received in the past.
Very happy with the Puget
Very happy with the Puget Systems experience from beginning to end. They were responsive and extremely helpful walking me through the reasoning behind their hardware selections. Highly recommend!
Great Workstations, Poor Mobile Platform
I’ve purchased several Puget workstations for my company where we primarily use SolidWorks for Engineering design. They have all been fantastic, long-lasting machines. Each one has been nothing but quiet, powerful, stable, and fast. Hence why I thought I would be getting the same quality of product with their mobile option. Not so. The chassis feels very cheap with lots of sharp plastic catch points that I fear will be easily broken. It’s the heaviest notebook I’ve felt in decades and as loud as a jet engine when the fan kicks into high. Seriously, you wouldn’t believe how loud this thing gets. Other people in the office thought I was playing a joke on them when they heard it the first time. The worst part is, in my limited experience with it so far, it has been highly unstable with frequent crashes and lockups/freezes. Hopefully they solved some of these issues with their newer model, but if not, I would suggest you steer clear until they work some of these things out. 5 stars for the workstations and Puget’s level of service but 2 for the mobile products.
Great Customer Service; Great Product
Puget was extremely professional and helpful throughout the process. After placing our initial order, Terrell was able to guide us towards a more cost effective product that lined up more closely with our needs than what we originally ordered, which is fantastic. They also kept a tight timeline and we found their dashboard online helpful to keep up with updates in regard to our build.
NONE BETTER…BAR NONE!
This has been the best computer purchase experience I have ever had. From my first conversation with Terrell Barnes, thru designing the system, then purchasing. After receiving the computer, Puget was on top of every question I called in about, with expert help and guidance done while holding my hand the whole way through. After set up and starting program use…wow…incredible speed, while remaining extremely quiet.
If you’re looking to buy a new system, look no further. This is a GREAT company.
Expectations fulfilled
The computer arrived on time, and included all that I needed for setup. The initial consultation with Eric assured me that the computer included what I needed/wanted. It was fun (and helpful) to be able to see the progress of the build through the Puget Systems website–cheers and thank you to the team!
What a company ought to be like
I have purchased two systems over the past five years and Puget Systems has been with me any time I had a question about hardware or software issues.
