Burn-In Process
Any time you use new computer components, you are subject to the risk of manufacturing defects, shipping damage, and many other possible sources of hardware failure. A “burn-in” process stresses the components in a system, so that if they are close to failure, we can make sure they break here – allowing us to fix or replace them before the computer gets to our customer. It is much like the way Boeing puts huge stresses on aircraft wings before flying the aircraft: if the wings have a defect, and are going to fail, they want that failure to happen before the aircraft leaves the plant. So, a burn-in test helps ensure that only hardware without defects leaves our facility.
What exactly do we do? The first test we run is very targeted, with a rigorous memory verification tool that makes sure the proper amount of system RAM is detected and that it functions without error for an extended period of time. This test also hits the CPU pretty hard, and depending on the amount of memory in the computer can last several hours. It is critical to make sure that the RAM is rock-solid before moving on, though, since misbehaving memory can cause a whole host of issues once the operating system is up and running.
Next, Windows is installed and all driver and OS updates are applied. Afterward, we run several benchmarks to collect performance data which we use to make sure the workstation is performing as expected for its particular specifications. Toward the end of that process we use a combination of utilities at the same time, with the specific intention of pushing the hardware to its limits – putting the CPU, RAM, and GPU(s) under heavy load for several minutes to ensure stable operation, before considering the PC ready for quality control. A similar system-wide stress test is run again as part of QC, where we can also monitor temperatures to ensure adequate cooling and power draw from the wall to verify that the included power supply will be able to run the computer safely.

This is the first time I’ve ever bought a custom PC, and while looking at reviews for custom built PC companies online, I was intrigued by the fact that Puget Systems offers quiet PC builds. The one I was using almost had the drone of an airplane! I was very surprised by the number of options available to me, and was very impressed by the efficiency of the ordering process. I looked at some other sites and for me, the detailed explanations for the different components was much easier to find and understand than on other websites.
Living in Hawaii, I was skeptical that the PC would arrive in one piece and in working order, but the packing was more than adequate and my PC arrived just fine.
As for the “quiet” part, I can’t believe the difference in the noise level! If it weren’t for the blinking LED on the case, I wouldn’t even know the PC was on! Would definitely buy another PC from Puget Systems in the future. You guys are awesome!

I am so happy with my new computer and the excellent service from Puget Systems that I felt I should stop by here and write about my experience.
These folks are fantastic, highly competent, attentive to detail and provide customer satisfaction I can’t remember experiencing prior to this. Absolutely top notch carefully selected components, carefully put together, well tested. The website is phenomenal, has all the details about my order and the components, all the drivers ready for download, thermal images of PC running at full speed and idle, checklist of work performed and what needs to be done, personal information about technicians performing the work, etc. etc.
Very impressed with what I received, packaging, instructions, even a bag of goodies that I might need during setup (cables, etc).
Seriously exceeded my expectations and wowed by the experience. This purchase was well worth it!

My second PC from Puget just shipped. I used to buy Dell computers, but they are terrible now. Both times that I ordered, suggestions were made to remove unnecessary equipment. I am quite sure that as a company, they want to make money, but they never make me feel like they are trying to take advantage. They offer suggestions, but do not pressure me to go with the decisions. I get good information and I decide based on facts, not hype.
I had only a couple of very minor issues with my first computer I bought from them. Both were addressed over the phone. If this second computer is as reliable as the first one has been, then I will be very pleased, and looking to Puget when I go for my next purchase.
Another very BIG thing for me is where the support is based. I do not care for support from overseas. They typically try to solve everything with a script of things to go through. The minute you throw them something that is not in their script, they are useless. It’s really nice to hear someone from this country on the other end of the phone line when I order or need support.
As long as the computers continue to be great quality for a reasonable price, and Puget keeps their support in-house, they will have me as a customer.

I am working on a Made in USA project, so I decided that I would buy a Made in USA computer. I started with the usual google search, them I began the process of comparing the half dozen or so companies and their products. That was the first surprise, that I actually had choices. My advice to you is to search out customer reviews. That is why we choose to go with Puget, I am not saying the others were not good choices. but I am confirming that the comments you read about Puget are true. After submitting our order for a new Laptop computer, we received the a response within hours that offered several suggested changes to our order that would increase the operating efficiency of our new computer. I was even given a contact name and number to call. I followed up with a phone call and spoke with a rep who walked me thru each suggested change. At least one of the changes lowered the cost of our original order! Puget kept us in the loop as our order went into production and when it was shipped and likely to be received. I even received a call a couple of days after receipt to see if there were any questions and to confirm that I was happy with my new Puget laptop.

Puget has the Define R5 left panel window I have been looking for to replace my scratched panel. Order was processed and shipped in less than 24 hours and the price was reasonable. I can’t really ask for anything more than that!

It has been less that 2 weeks since my new Puget Echo arrived. I just love it !!!!!!
My Puget salesman, William George, worked with me for over 2 months as I honed in on what exactly I needed. The first configuration I came up with included a very large case. When William reviewed it he sent back an email asking me why I needed the large case, when the other components that I selected would fit easily in the Puget Echo line. Several configurations later I finally decided on the setup that would do what I want, but did not include unnecessary extras. William also made sure that the Echo would connect to the 2 monitor setup that I had.
So I submitted my order. In spite of multiple reviews of my final configuration, I noticed that I needed to make one more change (my bad). Puget had already started the assembly of my Echo. But, they were able to make the change (operating system version) without causing any time delays or restart in the assembly.
Puget = quality products + quality staff + reasonable prices
