Overview of AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700 Video Card
AMD’s new Radeon™ AI PRO R9700 32GB is the first AI-focused GPU featuring their RDNA™ 4 microarchitecture. Under the hood, it is similar to the Radeon™ RX 9070 XT that was released earlier this year, but with double the VRAM, ECC support, a cooling system designed to work well in multi-GPU configurations, and optimized for cutting-edge AI inference and fine-tuning workloads. Of course, it can still do everything that normal video cards can – but its feature set and $1,299 MSRP are designed to offer a compelling price:performance alternative to NVIDIA’s more expensive RTX PRO™ 4500 Blackwell.
Spearheading AMD’s efforts in the AI space is their ROCm™ software stack. It includes programming models, tools, compilers, libraries, and runtimes for AI and HPC solution development on AMD GPUs. While originally designed for Linux, AMD is bringing many of the ROCm tools to Windows now as well!
