Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus
This mid-generation update brings additional E-cores and other under-the-hood improvements to the Intel® Core™ Ultra 200S Series Plus desktop processor line, resulting in new Ultra 7 270K Plus and Ultra 5 250K Plus models available March 26th.

Intel Core Ultra CPUs
Intel debuted the Core processor brand way back in 2006, first with mobile processors and then later on desktops. Eighteen years later, they refreshed their mainstream CPUs with new branding: Core™ Ultra. This name debuted in 2024, again first on laptops and then on desktop CPUs as Core™ Ultra 200S Series.
At the top-end of that series are the K-SKU models, with the highest clock speeds and best performance. Now, Intel is updating that line with new “Plus” models. These upgrades to the original Core™ Ultra 7 265K and Ultra 5 245K chips add 4 more E-cores each, tweak other specs a bit, improve some underlying architecture elements, and result in the new Core™ Ultra 7 270K Plus and Ultra 5 250K Plus! There are also KF variants of both, which eschew the onboard graphics but are otherwise largely the same.

The increased core count on the 270K Plus means that it now matches the higher-end Core Ultra 9 285K in that regard, and is only a tiny bit slower in max P-core clock speeds. It will be especially interesting to see how these two compare in performance, once benchmark results are available.
That similarity in specifications is made even more interesting by the suggested retail pricing of these new CPUs: $299 for the 270K Plus and $199 for the 250K Plus. They are releasing at prices well below where their predecessors launched, which is a welcome change from the ever-increasing hardware prices across the rest of the computer industry!

Both new models went on sale March 26th, 2026. Here at Puget Systems, we’ve historically only carried the Ultra 9 and Ultra 7 models – so only the 270K Plus joined our lineup. For those interested in performance data, we published a content-creation focused review recently. We plan to publish an engineering-focused article soon too, so stay tuned to our Hardware Articles section or subscribe for various ways to keep in the loop!
