Overview
AMD’s Threadripper PRO processors offer a lot of cores for very fast light baking and shader compiling, while NVIDIA’s professional RTX PRO graphics cards offer high 3D performance combined with lots of VRAM and Sync card compatibility. NVIDIA’s BlueField® network adapter provides SMPTE 2110 support for the most advanced multi-node setups, enabling levels of integration not available with more traditional SDI and HDMI configurations. Depending on the size of the wall, multiple nodes may be needed.
Rackmount cases offer little in the way of front panel connectivity – in this case, just three USB ports, including one Type C – while the motherboard’s rear I/O panel provides the bulk of the connectivity (more USB, audio, and 10Gb networking). But with lots of space in this style of chassis, a wide range of options are supported internally – including dual video cards, up to 1TB of memory, and multiple solid-state and hard drive configurations. There are also powerful fans to ensure everything stays well cooled, but without the noise-dampening features a tower workstation can offer.
