Event Schedule For 2018

In 2018, our goal is to get out there where our customers are to learn more about them, learn more about their workflow, and find out what more we can do to optimize our systems and experience to those exact needs. Are there any events that we should attend that aren’t on this list? Let us know!

SOLIDWORKS World 2018

At SOLIDWORKS World this year we are excited to share with everyone our support team that now has a member that is SOLIDWORKS certified. If you’ll be attending SWW18, be sure to swing by booth #203 and find out all about our incredible support and even get any of your questions answered!

Data Encryption

A break-down of data encryption, what it’s used for, and why your data could be at risk (oh no!)

How to Use Restore from the USB Tools & Recovery Drive (January 2018 to Current)

This guide covers how to restore Windows – and the drive it is installed on – to factory conditions, for Puget Systems computers built in 2018 or later. Methods are included for both systems that can boot into Windows and those which cannot. Please note that following these instructions will wipe all data on the primary drive, so back up any data you care about before proceeding!

Intel CPU flaw kernel patch effects – GPU compute Tensorflow Caffe and LMDB database creation

The Intel CPU flaw and the Meltdown and Spectre security exploits are causing a lot of concern. There is a possibility of application slowdown from the kernel patches to mitigate the exploits. This slowdown concern is a concern for GPU accelerated application because of the systems calls they require for moving data between CPU and GPU memory space. I did some testing on a couple of large Tensorflow and Caffe machine learning jobs along with the creation of a LMDA database from 1.3 million images.

Pix4D Cloud vs Local Processing

Pix4D is a photogrammetry application which can take sets of photographs and turn them into point clouds and 3D meshes, to make digital versions of real-world objects or locations. It supports both local processing on a workstation as well as uploading images to be processed in the cloud – but which is faster, and what advantages does each have?

Voting with My Wallet

What are you willing to trade for cheap?

I had two boxes to send across the country. A US Post Office and a UPS Store are equidistant from my home, but I decided to take the cheap route and head to the USPS.
