As one of the sales reps here at Puget Systems, I often get questions from clients who ask “Why should I buy from Puget when Company XYZ can build me the same system for less?” It’s a fair question and one that should be asked. After all, it’s your money and it’s a lot of money, so you have to do what is best.
Last December, we got together at Puget Systems and talked about our industry, how we see computers evolving, and how Puget Systems can continue to grow as a leader in our industry. We mapped out an exciting long term plan, with some ambitious goals for 2011. I am happy to announce today one piece of that plan — Puget Labs. What is that all about?
Over the last few years, Puget Systems has made a strong effort to get more involved with our local business community. Keeping with this theme, we’re proud to announce our participation in the 2010 Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce Trade Show. We are both a sponsor of the event and a exhibitor. We’ve been hard at work over the past few months: designing, coding, testing, fixing. Although we’ve received lots of positive feedback on various functionality of the old site (configuration utility, order status updates, etc), we’ve also been less than pleased with the dated design and limited, navigational ability of the old design. What we’re unveiling today is the first step a vast improvement on top of what was already a great base.
You’ve probably seen that old scene a thousand times – some guy is putting the finishing touches on his house of cards or stack of dominoes, and then someone sneezes and ruins the whole thing. We have pretty much that same feeling we get when a brand new computer gets roughed up during shipment. Even though we analyze hardware with specific concern for safe shipping, test each component for proper installation, and use specially designed packing materials, sometimes we still see a damaged computer.
We’ve been receiving a lot of media, blog and Twitter attention regarding the “$16,000+ PC” we built late last year. While most of the reviews have been favorable, the comment fields have been their usual mix of reactions and name-calling. LOL! The extra attention has definitely been fun, although I think our web servers would disagree!!!
The walls are up, the grid is being installed, the paint is drying. Take one more, quick tour of our unfinished warehouse as the construction nears completion!
After months of permit issues, contractor bids, and bank paperwork, we’re happy to say our building project is finally underway! We expect that it will take about 60 days to complete, so we should be moving in to the new location sometime between Christmas and New Years.
