Background on External Drives
We've started carrying Glyph external drives. These replace our previous line of drives, which was basically standard Western Digital drives inside of Vantec enclosures. Those were great, but supporting them was a bit awkward, since we were dealin with two distinct components combined into one.
Glyph gives us a single complete, reliably package. Previously, we'd gone with enclosure drives because we wanted something we had complete control over. It ensured reliability, and external drive manufacturers can be hit or miss with that. We've been testing Glyph drives for the past few months in-house, and we've found good reliability, quality construction, and excellent speeds. On top of that, they have great warranties on their drives (the whole 3-2-1 warranty schtick), so I'm excited to see how things work out with these.
Glyph assembles and tests all of their external drives here in the US, and is committed to product quality and customer service. Their drives include three years of full warranty coverage, along with two years of data recovery and one year of advance replacement. Glyph products purchased through Puget Systems include that full 3-2-1 warranty through Glyph's own support team.
