Background on Intel Xeon E5 1600 V4 CPU

Intel's E5 1600 V4 series of Xeon processors are based on the Broadwell EP architecture, and the updated socket 2011-3 for mounting. This brings technology improvements from the enthusiast Broadwell-E series into the server and workstation areas, along with support for features like ECC memory.

For the most part, this generation duplicates the speed and core count options available on the equivalent Core i7 enthusiast line. Not every model lines up with a Core i7 exactly, though: in particular there are some quad-core options which have no match on the i7 side.

William George (Puget Labs)
William George (Puget Labs) Says:
Most of the processors in this line are effectively just Xeon variants of the Core i7 Broadwell E processor line. The same combinations of cores and clock speed are available, with one higher-speed 8-core model and some quad-core variants added as well. If you need even higher core counts, the Xeon E5 2600 v3 & v4 series can also be used in single-CPU configurations and offer a wider range of specs.
